Structural Packaging

For my Structural Merchandising Packaging class at Pratt Institute, we created different packaging displays for 3 different types of materials. Each work is just a concept piece which shows my knowledge of the subject and how packages are made. For the first project, I made a Bow Tie box which uses its shape to attract interest off the shelves. It is also capable of folding flat to reduce shipping costs. The second project was to design a package through use of the thermoforming process. I created a Wii controller and its Nunchuk companion. They can be sold together or just as a Nunchuk. The packaging features Nintendo's well-known characters, Mario and Luigi. This structure can self-stand, or hang effectively on a planogram. The third package design is a very initial concept of a self-standing pouch. I wanted to create a packaging which takes advantage off this often unused material. This is a redesign of the Windex bottle, but due to its ability to collapse, it saves on shipping cost. This design still takes advantage of Windex's ergonomic design, reinforced with a pull-off handle.
